0.11.0 is live!


The previous update rounded out the mines area and did some other stuff, but this update adds a lot of stuff outside of the mines area; new psychic powers, a leveling-related mechanic, new story beats, new other stuff, etc; see the changelog for more.

The most prominent feature is that you can now drop to 0 hp on command! To unlock this ability, either 1) start a new save and clear the first area as normal, or 2) revisit the first area and clear it again. You’ll get this ability and a few gold at the same time.

Figuring out how to implement this much-requested feature was tough: I considered adding a “surrender” button, but that would require a ton of writing work for every single enemy since the defeat scenes are usually based around your character not going into it willingly (unless hypnotized or something). At the same time, I also wanted to introduce a lore element, so I combined the two problems and gave them one solution.

This feature should make a lot of players quite happy, especially for people who are overleveled and are sick of just dodging until a weak enemy beats them just so that they can see what happens next.

As it turns out, once I knew how to implement this, adding it was super easy. Click button, some text, set HP to zero, let the game engine take it from there. Although a “simple” feature is not always this easy to add, this one was!

The specific implementation also fits in with the fact that this game is also secretly a shitpost in disguise, so there’s that.
